Joel Abbott, Yale School of Drama

Joel Abbott is a theatrical sound designer and composer.

From 2000–2008, he served as musical improviser and sound designer at Dad’s Garage Theatre Company in Atlanta, Georgia, where he performed in over 2500 improv comedy shows. After moving to Vermont in 2008, he became the resident sound designer with the Vermont Stage Company, St. Michael’s Playhouse, and Totem Pole Playhouse. Yale Rep credits include Owners, In a Year With Thirteen Moons, and The Winter’s Tale. At Yale School of Drama he designed Twelfth Night, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Titus Andronicus, sound engineered Sunday in the Park with George, and designed many many shows at the Yale Cabaret. Recent regional sound design credits include Noises Off, Dames at Sea, Boeing Boeing, Blithe Spirit, Shipwrecked, Souvenir, Opus, Prelude to a Kiss, Spelling Bee, and The Drowsy Chaperone.
